JEWELRY
Real. Handcrafted. Historic.

Picture
Mike Bird-Romero (Ohkay-Owingeh/Taos) sterling silver Pueblo crosses necklace, 27-3/4” long, plus cross pendant, $2295. Center double bar cross is 2-1/4” long; eight side crosses are 1-1/4” long; saucer shaped beads are 1/4” in diameter. Crosses, beads, and hook finding are all handmade by Mike. An antique red whiteheart glass bead anchors the center cross.

Roy Talahaftewa (Hopi) sterling silver tufa cast overlay cross earrings, 1-7/8” long by 3/4” wide, $275. Tufa casting requires the carving of a mold into tufa stone and then pouring in melted silver. You can see Roy's carving marks in both the outer silver frame and the inner darkened cross. Handmade wires are permanently affixed. Roy’s work is extremely hard to get as his production is very limited.

Ray Tsalate (Zuni) black marble mole pendant on red coral necklace with turquoise accent stone, 19-1/2” long, $300. Mole (protector of the lower regions) measures 1-1/8” long by 3/4” wide.

Vintage Fred Harvey sterling silver bar pin with crossed arrow and eagle badges, stamped edges, repoussé button terminals, and Blue Gem turquoise center stone, 3” long by 3/4” wide at center, $150. Very traditional tourist pin.

Jennifer Curtis (Navajo) hand stamped sterling silver bracelet, 5” end-to-end plus 7/8” gap by 1/4” wide, $300. Jennifer uses heavy gauge silver for her slender cuffs: this is 1/4” by 1/4” square, leaving  plenty of room to stamp the sides.

Jennifer Curtis
(Navajo) stamped sterling silver stiletto earrings with filed edges, 3-1/4” long by 1/8” wide, $400. These are statement earrings, but most wearable. Very dramatic!

James Faks
(Blackfeet) stamped and cutout sterling silver earrings, 1-3/4” long by 3/4” wide, $95. The handmade wires are permanently fixed to the drops.

Picture
Georgia Quandelacy (d) Silverado jet fetish necklace and earrings strung on jet heishi, 28" long including center bear, $750. Center bear measures 1-1/2" long by 1" high; earring bears measure 1" long by 9/16" high; earrings total length including gold ear wire is 2". Inlaid heart lines are coral.  Silverado jet is very shiny and light with occasional surface flaws.

Zuni
vintage needlepoint turquoise bracelet, 5” end-to-end plus ¾” gap, ¼” wide, $275. Vintage swag and scallop stamps adorn the terminals. The turquoise has aged to deep teals and greens with the occasional bright aqua, a beautiful effect.

Navajo vintage joclas choker necklace  joined by handmade silver beads and finished with handmade silver hook and figure-eight eye, 12”  long plus 1/2” shell “corn” center drop, $350. Branch coral separates the turquoise strands from the silver beads. The graduated turquoise heishi ranges from 3/16” to 3/8” in diameter.

Picture

Albert Jake (Navajo) blue Pilot Mountain turquoise ring with silver rope and rain drop setting, size 6, 1-1/4” long by 3/4” wide, $250. Band is triple split shank and stamped with rain shower design.

Picture

Unknown Navajo double Bisbee stones mounted in simple sterling silver split shank ring with rope and raindrop detail, size 8-3/4, 1-7/8” long by 5/8” wide, $200.  When the turquoise is the important thing!

Ray Tsalate carved mother-of-pearl parrot pendant strung on faceted beads of sapphire, emerald, ruby, apatite, and spinel, 24” long, $450. The parrot’s wings and tail are inlaid front and back with coral to indicate feathers, and she is adorned with a real feather tuft. Bird measures 1-5/8” long by 5/8” wide.

Dyaami Lewis (Laguna) sterling silver traveler’s bracelet, 5-1/2” end-to-end plus 1-1/4” gap, 3/16” wide, $150.  Dyaami is son of Laguna’s famed silversmith Greg Lewis, and uses his father’s vintage stamps.

Navajo vintage long oval green turquoise ring with round blue turquoise side stones, size
3-3/4, $125. Center stone measures 1-1/8” long by ½” wide. This ring is tiny!—but elegant.

Herbert Ration (Navajo) sterling silver cuff with 17 Mediterranean coral stones, 5” end-to-end plus 1” gap, 3/8” wide, $350. The inside of this heavy gauge silver cuff is stamped with Herbert’s sun-above-rain-cloud design.
