Zuni Fetishes
Alonzo Esalio natural golden alunite mountain lion fetish, 1-1/4” high by 3” long by 3/4” wide, SOLD. Curious lion wears a belt of natural turquoise nuggets, hishi, and Alonzo’s trademark coral branch.
Lena Boone chrysocolla bear fetish, 1-1/4” high by 2-1/4” long by 5/8” wide, SOLD. Beautiful color on the chrysocolla.
Joey Quam (d) Nguni jasper wolf fetish, 1-1/4” high by 2-3/4” long by 3/4” wide, SOLD. The wolf’s intense expression is enhanced by the strongly marked stone from South Africa.
Ricky Laahty Pia Mesa travertine frog fetish, 3/4” high by 1” long by 1” wide, SOLD. This travertine is a local Zuni stone, and one that Ricky’s father Morris carved.
Brian Yatsattie “Fordite” mountain lion fetish, 1-1/2” high by 3-1/2” long by 5/8” wide, $350. The swirls in the Fordite perfectly compliment the lion’s contours.
Andres Quandelacy resting malachite buffalo fetish, 5/8” high by 1-1/2” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. With turquoise horns, and the hooves are carved underneath.
Kendall Shetima (d) pale Picasso marble beaver fetish, 2” high by 2-1/2” long by 1-1/2” wide, SOLD. Kendall inlaid a turquoise zigzag heart line, something that was becoming his trademark.
Colin Weeka (d) dolomite eagle mates, 2-1/4” high by 1-1/4” long by 1-1/8” wide, SOLD. The surface has a matte finish with textured feathers, and the hollow formed where the beaks touch is an abstract heart.
Leonard “Old Man” Halate (d) augite bear fetish, 1-1/4” high by 2-1/2” long by 7/8” wide, SOLD. One of Leonard’s early carvings, with a natural turquoise nugget offering.
Kenny Chavez rose quartz badger fetish (#1), 7/8” high by 2-1/4” long by 1” wide, SOLD. Kenny did several rose quartz carvings in the 90s, all from Colorado rose quartz. One is in The Zuni Fetish Museum.

Jesus Espino textured wonderstone rhyolite howling coyote fetish, 3-1/4” high by 2-3/4” long by 5/8” wide, SOLD. Larger than most carvings by Jesus, and beautifully finished.

Leroy Chavez (d) textured Ojo rock bear-protecting-pueblo fetish, 3” high by 1-1/2” long by 1” wide, SOLD. Elaborately detailed with carved “adobe” bricks and a wood kiva ladder.
Joey Quam (d) amazonite growling bear fetish, 1-1/4” high by 2” long by 7/8” wide, SOLD. Another very animated carving by Joey, with detailed open mouth and inlaid jet claws. The stone looks to be Colorado amazonite.
Tyler Quam (d) strawberry alabaster ram fetish, 1-1/4” high by 3-1/4” long by 1” wide, SOLD. Tyler was Rosalia Quam’s son.
Dee Edaakie chrysocolla pouch eagle fetish, 2” high by 1” long by 1/4” wide, $110. This eagle will stand, but it is so self-contained that it is an outstanding choice for a pouch. (We do carry Native American made leather pouches.)
Lynn Quam large Portuguese rainbow marble medicine bear, 3-3/4” high by 4-3/4” long by 3/4” wide, SOLD. Lynn did not give this bear a heart line as no embellishment was needed on this spectacular stone.
Kenny Chavez rose quartz badger fetish (#2), 3/4” high by 2-1/4” long by 1” wide, SOLD. Another luscious piece of rose quartz. Both badgers have a detailed stripe down the back.

Francis Tsethlikai serpentine alligator fetish, 1/4” high by 3-3/4” long by 3/4” wide, $100. Gold mother-of-pearl eyes. Francis is a cousin to Fabian Tsethlikai.

Hudson Sandy Picasso marble griffin fetish, 1-3/4” high by 2” long by 5/8” wide, SOLD. Hudson carved the feathered wing detail and textured the neck feathers on this mythical creature.
Loren Tsalabutie Mexican labradorite mountain lion fetish, 1-1/2” high by 3-1/8” long by 3/4” wide, SOLD. Coral eyes and a black marble arrowhead set off this smoky beauty.
Vern Nieto (d) large textured howlite standing bear fetish, 5-3/4” high by 3-1/4” long by 2” wide, SOLD The eyes are compound mother-of-pearl and jet; the teeth are carved and inset mother-of-pearl. This is a get-well-or-else bear!

We offer three pots by young Navajo potter Jared Tso who won best of classification at this year's 2023 Heard Museum fair.

Jared Tso traditional herb pot, pitch finished red Navajo clay, hand coiled and wood fired, 8” high by 6” diameter, $1800. The bottom is rounded in the prehistoric manner when pots were set in the sand for use. Jared signed this pot inside the lip. The lucite stand is included for display. Jared won best of classification at the 2023 Heard fair. |
