Zuni Fetishes

Loren Tsalabutie large atlantisite wolf fetish, 2-1/4” high by 3-1/2” long by 1-1/2” wide, SOLD. Atlantisite, a vivid green serpentine with pocket inclusions of purple stichtite, is mined in Tasmania. This wolf has turquoise eyes and a very bushy tail.

Julius Yuselew (d) black marble raccoon fetish with sgraffito and inlaid double heart lines, 7/8” high by 2-3/4” long by 3/4” wide, SOLD. Julius passed so young that he did not develop a distinct style. This is the first piece with both sgraffito and inlay that I have seen.

Evalena Boone New Mexico Sonoran Sunrise wolf fetish, 1” high by 2-1/4” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. The bundle includes a pen shell arrowhead.

Sherdine Tsattie black serpentine mountain lion (panther) fetish, 7/8” high by 2-1/8” long by 5/8” wide, $150. Offering bundle has a sliver of coral strung between two lapis beads; eyes are turquoise.

Delvin Leekya green sea snail shell eagle fetish, 1-1/8” high by 1-1/8” long by 1-1/8” wide, $90. This style shell bird has been carved by almost all members of the Leekya family throughout the years.

Gibbs Othole ivory stone calcite big horn ram fetish, 1-5/8” high by 3” long by 1” wide, $320. Look at that head position! You can just tell when someone carves from real life experience.

Priscilla Lasiloo turquoise medicine bear fetish, 7/8” high by 1-3/4” long by 3/8” wide, $120. The inlaid heart line is coral.

Sherdine Tsattie pink fluorite miniature bear fetish, 1/2” high by 1” long by 3/8” wide, $100. Wonderful use of the stone’s color variation.

Ricky Laahty miniature ricolite serpentine frog fetish, 1/2” high by 1” long by 5/8” wide, $120. There is a bearded dragon on the bottom.

Fabian Cheama (d) textured Salt River serpentine squirrel fetish, 3/4” high by 1-1/4” long by 3/8” wide, SOLD. Such a talent Fabian had for detail!

Loren Tsalabutie chrysocolla resting mountain lion fetish, 1-3/8” high by 3-1/2” long by 2” wide, SOLD. This pose, with the foot crossed under the body, is a typical cat pose. As you know, Loren is a dog person, but he has inherited his uncle Gibbs Othole’s gift of observation.

Gibbs Othole Sonoran Sunrise owl family fetish, 2-1/4” high by 2” long by 1-1/4” wide, $350. Gibbs is a true naturalist, keenly observant of animals in their habitat. This is a family of Western screech owls.

Sherdine Tsattie boulder opal mini bear fetish, 1/2” high by 1-1/8” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. Boulder opal is a very strong stone, perfect for carrying in a pouch.

Ricky Laahty Salt River serpentine frog fetish, 1/2” high by 5/8” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. Ricky carved a hummingbird on the bottom.

Faye Quandelacy (d) tiny textured turquoise bear fetish, 1/2” high by 5/8” long by 3/8” wide, SOLD. Unusual to find a mini carving by Faye that has not been drilled for a fetish necklace.

Evalena Boone turquoise badger fetish, 1/2” high by 1-1/4” long by 3/4” wide, SOLD. Offering is a carved red abalone shell arrowhead secured with turquoise and abalone chips.

Hudson Sandy textured Mojave turquoise horned toad fetish, 5/8” high by 1-5/8” long by 1-1/8” wide, $120. This guy is textured all over, which is surely how the little spiky lizards feel.

Ricky Laahty natural Burnham turquoise mini frog fetish, 3/8” high by 5/8” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. There is a long-tailed tree-dwelling critter on the bottom. The turquoise is from Morris’s unworked stones.

Gibbs Othole black-and-white zebra marble badger fetish, 1-1/4” high by 3-1/2” long by 2” wide, SOLD. The offering is a magnificent large carved gold-lip mother-of-pearl arrowhead, a specialty of Gibbs—a gift to both the badger and the collector.

Loren Tsalabutie large blue angelite happy dancing bear fetish, 3-3/4” high by 3” long by 2-1/4” wide, SOLD. Gorgeous angelite with some white matrix inclusions and some red iron coloring for accent. The bear is wearing a coral, turquoise, and pearl necklace.
