Zuni Fetishes

Loren Tsalabutie Mexican labradorite dancing tumbling bear fetish, 4” high by 2-1/2” long by 2” wide, SOLD. This bear has subtle flashes of fire in the stone, and three different poses, all perfectly balanced, for which he won his lovely necklace of turquoise on coral and lapis beads.

Cheryl Beyuka fishrock serpentine wolf mates fetish with dragonfly blessing bundle, 1” high by 3” long by 1-1/2” wide, SOLD. The perfect wedding or engagement gift!

Lynn Quam Picasso marble buffalo fetish, 1-3/4” high by 3” long by 1” wide, SOLD. Beautifully patterned Picasso marble and fossil ivory horns make this bison a standout.

Fabian Tsethlikai phosphosiderite bobcat fetish, 1” high by 1-1/2” long by 1” wide, SOLD. Just a perfectly purple bobcat!

Hudson Sandy turquoise gecko fetish, 1-1/4” high by 1” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. Hudson’s carvings are always intricate.

Faye Quandelacy (d) dolomite buffalo dancer fetish, 2-3/4” high by 7/8” long by 1” wide, SOLD. This is a male figure, not a maiden. The headdress horns are mother-of-pearl, and the dancer wears a snake kilt, which is usual in the New Mexico Pueblos.

Emery Eriacho (d) labradorite medicine bear fetish, 1-1/4” high by 1-1/2” long by 1/2” wide, $100. This labradorite is darkly colored, but shows plenty of flash on the bear’s back and rear, none of which I could capture.

Scott Garnaat blue angelite tiny horned toad fetish, 1/4” high by 1-1/4” long by 1/2” wide, $65. This intricate little carving is signed in script with Scott’s trademark SKAT.

Loren Tsalabutie dendritic soapstone eagle fetish, 1-1/2” high by 2” long by 1” wide, SOLD. The white soapstone with its grey fossil speckles is perfect for an “all colors” directional eagle.

Dee Edaakie tiger’s eye mountain lion fetish, 1-1/4” high by 2-3/4” long by 1” wide, $220. A heavy, sturdy carving with dramatic markings and tiger's eye shine that is difficult to show.

Evalena Boone glass bluebird fetish, 3/4” high by 1-1/2" long by 3/4” wide, SOLD. Evalena’s mother, the beloved Lena Boone, was the first to regularly carve glass into fetishes.

Lena Boone fluorite medicine bear fetish, 1-1/4” high by 2” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. After a long and prolific career that supported many family members, Lena is no longer carving.

Maxx Laate Chiapas amber coiled snake fetish, 3/4” high by 1-1/4” long by 3/4” wide, SOLD. The red gold glow of this delicate carving shows Maxx at this best.

Yancy Robert Halusewa (d) Picasso marble rattlesnake fetish, 2” high by 1-3/4” long by 1-1/4” wide, SOLD. Robert rarely carved snakes.

Jeff Shetima zebra marble seated cat fetish, 2” high by 1-1/3” long by 1-1/4” wide, SOLD. Jeff gave this beautiful cat a heart line of his signature micro-inlay.

Emery Eriacho (d) rhodocrosite hunting bear fetish, 1-1/4” high by 1-1/4” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. Rhodocrosite is also known as lace agate, which explains why it is not often carved.

Loren Tsalabutie turquoise badger fetish, 1-1/2” high by 2” long by 1” wide, $200. This badger especially shows the influence of Loren’s father Jeff, right down to the tiny Japanese coral branch in the bundle.

Evalena Boone Murano glass frog fetish, 1-1/8” high by 1-1/2” long by 1-1/8” wide, $90. This rain frog comes with his own rainbow!

 Julius Yuselew (d) early Zuni fluorite bear fetish, 1-1/4” high by 2-1/2” long by 3/4” wide, SOLD. The offering point appears to be a found flint-knapped point, atop this found native stone bear.

Maxx Laate textured jet raven fetish, 1-3/4” high by 1-3/4” long by 1-1/4” wide, $150. Maxx likes to use chunky pieces for his carvings, making them very stable and handler-friendly. The raven holds a stolen treasure in his beak.

Kenny Chavez banded chalcedony medicine bear fetish, 1-3/4” high by 1-3/4” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. A rare stone to be carved. With Kenny’s signature sterling silver eyes.

Edison Bobelu serpentine parrot fetish, 1-1/4” high by 1” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. Edison is known for these multi-stone creations.

Eddington Hannaweeke lightly textured yttrium fluorite bear and cub fetish, 1-3/4” high by 2-1/4” long by 1-1/4” wide, $300. Eddie carved the cub at the point where the stone changes colors, a natural dividing line.

Loren Tsalabutie Afghani travertine mountain lion fetish, 1-1/4” high by 1-3/4” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. The arrowhead is black abalone.

Evalena Boone labradorite beaver fetish, 3/4” high by 3-5/8” long by 1-1/8” wide, SOLD. Evalena did not texture the tail of the beaver so as not to interrupt the flash of the labradorite.

Gibbs Othole fluorite diving otter fetish, 3-1/4” high by 1-1/4” long by 1” wide, SOLD. This otter shows subtle swimming motion with his hind legs as he heads for the depths.

Julius Yuselew (d) Baltic amber mountain lion fetish, 5/8” high by 2-1/4” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. This is a late fetish by Julius, and it shows what a talent we lost with his passing.
