Zuni Fetishes
Sherdine Tsattie large Sonoran cuprite wolf fetish, 2-1/2” high by 5” long by 1-1/2” wide, SOLD. This is heavy copper-rich cuprite with only a small streak of chrysocolla to show its Sonoran origin. Sherdine debuted this piece at her first-ever Heard show last month.
Loren Tsalabutie lapis otter fetish, 1-3/4” high by 3” long by 1-1/2" wide, $450. Loren gave this guy a shell to carry but otters also carry rocks that they use to crack shells. They even have a pouch of skin under their front legs where they can store their favorite rocks.
Ricky Laahty labradorite frog fetish, 5/8” high by 2” long by 1-1/4” wide, SOLD. There is a laughing fish carved underneath.
Sherdine Tsattie Septarian stone sea turtle fetish, 1” high by 3” long by 2-1/2” wide, SOLD. This turtle has the appropriate 13 scutes on the back. The underside shows the distinctive lacy pattern associated with Septarian.
Loren Tsalabutie lemon calcite long-eared fox fetish, 3” high by 4-1/2” long by 1-1/4” wide, $650. Long-eared foxes include the Swift Fox of western North America and the Fennec fox of the African Sahara. The long ears help to cool the body in the desert heat. Offering arrowhead is lapis.
Fabian Cheama (d) textured turquoise duck fetish, 1” high by 1-3/4” long by 7/8” wide, SOLD. Fabian carved different patterns of feathers on this beauty and sweet little duck feet on the underside.
Loren Tsalabutie rainbow fluorite platypus fetish, 2-7/8” high by 2-1/4” long by 1-7/8” wide, SOLD. Loren loves his water creatures! Platypuses share DNA with birds, mammals, and reptiles, and they are biofluorescent. A very special creature indeed.
Sherdine Tsattie orange calcite beaver fetish, 7/8” high by 1-1/4” long by 5/8” wide, $95. The tail has a natural roughness that is part of the stone and is not otherwise textured.
Loren Tsalabutie malachite bunny fetish, 3/4” high by 1-1/8” long by 7/8” wide, SOLD. Turquoise eyes and the sweetest expression.
Loren Tsalabutie tijilite marble buffalo fetish, 1” high by 1-3/4” long by 5/8” wide, SOLD. The buffalo is warning those tourists with a slightly turned head showing his turquoise horns.
Hubert Pincion (d) dendritic soapstone horse fetish, 1-3/4” high by 2” long by 5/8” wide, SOLD. Using only hand tools Hubert created some of the most sensitive fetishes ever.
Loren Tsalabutie apatite shuffle-dancing bear fetish, 2” high by 2-1/2” long by 1-1/2” wide, $550. Beautiful deeply colored apatite is accented with coral eyes and a coral and pearl necklace.
Jeff Tsalabutie (d) wonderstone bear fetish, 1-1/8” high by 2” long by 1” wide, SOLD. Wonderstone is a vitreous rhyolite, very smooth and fine-grained. Jeff gave this bear a carved turquoise arrowhead offering tied on in the traditional manner. Perfect condition.

Mike Bird-Romero (Ohkay-Owingeh/Taos) handmade sterling silver naja strung on natural Lander turquoise nugget necklace with handmade sterling silver beads and findings, 32” long, SOLD. The naja is a protective symbol adopted from the Spanish who in turn adopted it from the Moors. This shape appears in many Native American silver creations, even the vaunted squash blossom necklace.
