Zuni Fetishes
Kendall Shetima (d) dolomite mountain lion and amber coyote hunting buddies fetish, 2” high by 2-1/4” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. The hunters are bound with a carved lapis arrowhead.
Ricky Laahty stichtite bear fetish, 1-1/8” high by 2” long by 5/8” wide, SOLD. A bas relief arrowhead is carved onto the back following a natural darker coloration. Rarely does Ricky carve bears, and rarely does one see such pure stichtite.
Eddington Hannaweeke white marble bunny rabbit fetish, 1-3/4” high by 2-1/2” long by 1-1/4” wide, SOLD. A large, alert bunny for this year of the rabbit.
Dee Edaakie Sonoran Sunrise eagle fetish with abalone fish, 1-3/4” high by 2-1/4” long by 1” wide, $300. A beautiful stone that we rarely see in carvings these days.
Melissa Quam Peruvian blue angelite bear fetish, 1-1/8” high by 2” long by 1” wide, SOLD. A fat bear, eyeless and animated, as many of Melissa’s beloved carvings are.
Charles Martinez, Jr. cedar wood badger fetish, 1-1/4” high by 2-3/4” long by 1” wide, SOLD. Beautifully marked cedar with a carved mother-of-pearl arrowhead on this rare carving by Charles.
Emery Eriacho (d) rainbow calsilica medicine bear fetish c. 2003, 1” high by 1-1/2” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. When materials were scarce, Pueblo people often used whatever medium was available for their art. In 2002, rainbow calsilica was marketed as a rare stone when it was, in fact, a manmade substance. That makes this bear a happy combination of unusual material and historical oddity.
Darrell Westika textured Zuni stone travertine walking catfish fetish, 1-1/8” high by 3-1/4” long by 7/8” wide, SOLD. Rare to get a carving by Darrell and even rarer to get a walking catfish!

Ron Laahty (d) Sonoran cuprite corn maiden fetish, 2-1/2” high by 2” long by 1” wide, $600. Quintessential corn maiden—rows of rounded kernels and graceful corn leaves—carved in this hard, heavy, red stone. Eyes and mouth inlaid of contrasting green turquoise.
Lynn Quam Russian lazurite buffalo fetish, 1-3/8” high by 2-1/8” long by 7/8” wide, SOLD. Lazurite is related to lapis lazuli. Extra beautiful with its fossil ivory horns.
Sedrick Banteah textured Picasso marble prairie dog fetish, 1-7/8” high by 7/8” long by 5/8” wide, SOLD. Sedrick captured the alert posture of a prairie dog perfectly!
Dereath Vicenti textured Peruvian blue angelite bear fetish, 1” high by 1-1/2” long by 1” wide, SOLD. Very rare carving with similarities to the equally rare carvings of Richard Okhtokiyuk.
Rhoda Quam (d) lapis howling coyote fetish, 1-1/2” high by 3/4” long by 1/4” wide, SOLD. A beautiful turquoise and coral heart line is inlaid on both sides. Rhoda’s softly pointed arrowheads echo those of her brother Lynn.
Chris Cellicion textured wonderstone rhyolite coyote fetish, 2” high by 3” long by 1” wide, SOLD. This is a rare subject for Chris.
Dan Quam (d) textured turquoise eagle fetish, 7/8” high by 1/2” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. A tiny, perfect eagle by the father of the realistic carving movement.
Melissa Quam Picasso marble seated wolf fetish, 1-1/2” high by 2” long by 1-1/2” wide, SOLD. This wolf has the same sweet expression and gentle animation found in Melissa’s earlier eyeless carvings.
Julius Yuselew (d) “Wild Horse” magnesite-hematite sea turtle fetish, 1/4” high by 1-3/4” long by 1-1/4” wide, SOLD. Turquoise eyes and a single turquoise dot grace this beauty.
Kendall Shetima (d) large serpentine descending wolf fetish, 3” high by 3” long by 3” wide, SOLD. This gorgeous wolf has an inlaid turquoise lightning shaped heart line similar to the multi-stone heart lines of cousin Jeff Shetima.
Gibbs Othole black marble beaver fetish, 1-3/4” high by 1-3/4” long by 1” wide, SOLD. Beaver is holding a coral branch that he gnawed off with his little mother-of-pearl teeth.
Dee Edaakie peacock pyrite bear fetish, 1-3/4” high by 1-3/4” long by 1-1/4” wide, $140. He is a round, fat nugget of a bear wearing a turquoise and coral necklace.
Anastasia Walema turquoise gecko fetish, 1” high by 1-1/2” long by 1/4” wide, SOLD. Just beautiful! Extremely rare. Anastasia was married to Kenny Chavez who often uses sterling silver for eyes on his carvings—just as this gecko has.
Carol Martinez spiny oyster shell unicorn fetish, 1-1/4” high by 2-1/8” long by 3/8” wide, SOLD. Carol is known for her horses, but this colorful unicorn is a rarity. The horn is carved from the shell, not glued on.
Ed Lementino Picasso marble corn maiden fetish, 2” high by 1-1/4” long by 3/4” wide, SOLD. Carved kernels, sun rays and turquoise wind lines decorate her body.
Rhoda Quam (d) mother-of-pearl medicine bear fetish, 1” high by 1-1/2” long by 1/4” wide, SOLD. Rhoda inlaid a coral sun, black raven, dragonfly, and multi-stone heart line on this bear.
Jayne Quam Peruvian blue angelite wolf mates fetish, 1” high by 3-1/2” long by 1” wide, SOLD. Beautiful angelite patterns look as if the bound wolves are carved from the same stone.
Edna Leki (d) Salt River serpentine wolf fetish c. 1970s, 1-1/2” high by 3-1/4” long by 3/4” wide, SOLD. A classic Edna wolf with a perfect pipestone arrowhead carved in a stellar example of Salt River serpentine.
Loren Tsalabutie fire labradorite dancing fox fetish, 2-1/2” high by 2” long by 2” wide, SOLD. Loren gave this fox a coral and turquoise necklace.
