Zuni Fetishes

 Ricky Laahty natural Nevada turquoise double frog fetish, 1” high by 2” long by 1” wide, SOLD. There is a deer head looking out from foliage on the underside.

Gibbs Othole obsidian (volcanic glass) bear fetish, 1-1/2" high by 1-3/4” long by 1” wide, SOLD. Gibbs left the natural markings of the obsidian, principally on the feet but also on the body, which clearly differentiates the stone from black marble, and makes the carving much more interesting. This chubby fellow can sit or lie down.

Edna Leki (d) serpentine wolf fetish, 1” high by 2-1/4” long by 3/8" wide, SOLD. Classic Edna wolf with carved white clamshell arrowhead and extraordinary coral branch.

Ricky Laahty Royston turquoise frog family fetish, 3/4” high by 1-1/2” long by 1-1/4” wide, SOLD. Mom with two babies, one pure gemmy turquoise. And Rick carved a dinosaur on the underside!

Maxx Laate textured (stabilized) Bisbee turquoise bear and cub fetish, 1-1/4” high by 1” long by 5/8” wide, SOLD. Bisbee is the loveliest of American turquoise with its distinctive deep color and maroon matrix.

Ricky Laahty found stone Gila monster fetish, 1/2” high by 2-1/4” long by 1-1/2” wide, $210. Ricky does not carve many reptiles, but he carefully studies his stones and the bubbled texture of this one reminded him of a Gila monster. There is a bobcat face carved on the underside.

Avery Ohmsattie alabaster wolf fetish, 1” high by 3” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. Avery is a great nephew of Saul Yuselew, as you can see in the gentle contours of this carving.

Farlan and Paulette Quam  highly polished black marble bear fetish, 2” high by 1-1/4” long by 1-1/4” wide, SOLD. The claws on this guy are incredible! 

Ricky Laahty Royston turquoise owl and chick fetish, 1-1/2” high by 1-1/4” long by 1” wide, SOLD. The owlet is a natural nugget of turquoise within the matrix that Ricky enhanced with his carving. There is an eagle head carved underneath.

Ricky Laahty pyrite frog fetish, 1” high by 1-1/4” long by 1” wide, SOLD. There are sparkly bits all over this pyrite and a fish carved on the bottom.

Troy Sice fossil ivory double corn maiden fetish, 2-1/8” high by 1” long (base) by 3/4” wide, SOLD. Troy’s always impeccable inlay features turquoise, coral, lapis, jet, and malachite.

Ricky Laahty textured Royston turquoise birds fetish, 3/4” high by 2-3/4” long by 1/2” wide, SOLD. As with the owl above, the turquoise bird on the back is a natural form within the rock which Ricky brought out with subtle carving. There is a caterpillar on the bottom. 

Darrell Westika large pipestone mountain lion fetish, 1-1/4” high by 4-3/4” long by 7/8” wide, $290. The offering is a carved mother-of-pearl arrowhead secured with turquoise, coral, and heishi.
